Principal - Arria Coburn
Grades 8th and 10th Assistant Principal - Jenni Manfredi
My life and education began in Forest Park at Kensington and White Street Elementary Schools. My family moved to Agawam when I was in 2nd grade. I graduated Agawam High School in 1994. Not sure what I wanted to study and which career path was right for me, I decided Springfield Technical Community College was a good choice for 2 years. I researched and visited colleges and universities. In 1996, I transferred to UMass Dartmouth and studied marine biology. I worked for a professor in her marine biology lab and volunteered for a few different student groups and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999. When I graduated I was not sure what I could do with my degree, but I knew that I liked teaching other people and helping them learn and discover new things about the world and themselves. I found an opportunity to be an educator as a paraprofessional at an elementary school in Southwick, MA. The teacher I worked with was strong and had much success with her classes and a terrific reputation in the community. She inspired me to go back to school, advance my degrees and become a teacher and a counselor.
I found a program at Springfield College that included learning how to be both a teacher and an adjustment counselor. I was also honored to serve in the AmeriCorps volunteer service program for 2 years, 2001-2003. After working at Kennedy Middle School and SciTech as a science teacher from 2003-2008, I decided I really wanted to help other teachers, students and families in a different way, so I went back to college again, this time to become an administrator. I completed my program requirements to be a licensed principal/assistant principal through the Project Lead/UMass Partnership. During this time, I also took on a leadership role as a Magnet Resource Teacher at SciTech for our exciting STEM Magnet program.
In 2012, I moved into my first role as assistant principal at Kiley Middle School. After 2 years at Kiley, I got the chance to work back at SciTech as a high school assistant principal. In 2014, I was invited to join the Renaissance Family and work with both middle and high school students, teachers and families. What an honor it has been. As you can see, I do love to take on new opportunities to learn and grow. I have had many exciting experiences in college and career and have met some incredible people along the way.
I truly am excited to hear about the experiences you will create on your journey.
Ms. Jenni L. Manfredi, M.Ed.
